    Nylon Insert Locknuts

    Carbon Steel, Zinc Plated

Nylon insert locknuts are hex nuts with a nylon-filled collar. When a screw reaches the collar, the threads and nylon form a tight, frictional fit restricting movement of the screw when it is subjected to vibration. Designed to be used with like-material machine screws and bolts, nylon insert locknuts can be reused more times than a two-way reversible nut, however, nylon will begin to deteriorate at temperatures of 150°-350°F so they are not recommended for high temperature service. Typical hardness will reach a maximum of Rockwell C28. Nuts are manufactured to meet a proof load of 90,000 psi minimum.

Hex nut with a nylon-filled collar at its back end. When a screw reaches the collar, the threads and nylon form a tight, frictional fit, restricting movement of the screw when it is subjected to vibration. Designed to be used with like-material machine screws and bolts. It is able to be reused more times than a two-way reversible nut, however, nylon will begin to deteriorate at temperatures from 150℉ - 350℉. 18-8 stainless steel is best for applications where corrosion resistance is required.

Threads are molded into the nylon insert locking the bolt into place. Nylon Insert Lock Nuts typically have a cased metal outside formed into a hex pattern easily torqued by a wrench or socket. Type NE Grade C. ASME B1.1 UNC and UNF Class 2B thread requirements. Yellow Zinc offers a modest amount of corrosion resistance, slightly higher than that of clear zinc.

L9® High Tensile Strength Hex Collared Locknuts are designed for use in high stress, severe service environments. The highest mechanical strength off-the-shelf fastening system available, its special features control torque-tension characteristics to develop high clamp loads when using properly controlled tightening methods. Brighton Best manufactures L9® nuts from AISI alloy steels. Collared prevailing torque metal locknuts are used in applications where assemblies are subject to vibration. L9® components are fabricated from high-grade alloy steel AISI 8640H on state-of-the-art equipment right here in the USA. L9® Hex Collared Locknuts are for use with corresponding L9® Hex Cap Screws only.
